Wooden - it - be - Lovely Decorative Painting Studio was started by Ruth Watkins in 2002 as a fun and informative place to learn the art of Decorative Painting. It places special impetus on teaching those who want to have a go at painting and making things but perhaps haven't got round to it as they thought they couldn't because they weren't artistic enough or were reluctant to go to a big class as well as for those who already paint.

One of the great things about Decorative Painting is that with a little practice everyone can learn as you don't need to be able to draw as specially designed patterns are used. Once you have learnt the basic brushstrokes you can soon be painting flowers, fruit, teddy bears and more on all sorts of useful items for the home and garden such as furniture, clocks and even watering cans. In fact onto anything that stands still long enough is in danger of being painted!

Wooden - it - be - lovely endeavors to offer a friendly environment in which to learn a new skill and meet other like minded people and you can be assured of a warm welcome. At present all classes are held in purpose built garden studio. Max 6 people at a time.

Ruth Watkins is a Certified Art of Brushstrokes Teacher and a One stroke instructor (OSCI). Her designs and projects are regularly featured in Crafts Beautiful Magazine and Quick and Crafty and she has her own range of pattern packets which are available to purchase via this site at the bottom of the classes page.  Ruth is working with industry giants Craft Creations on a range of collage and scrap booking papers in her popular pen and wash style - look out for the Christmas papers out now. She also has  been commissioned to write and design her first book  called Pen and Ink handmade Cards to be published by Search Press and due to be released in spring 2008.

Wooden - It - Be - Lovely is based in the heart of Buckinghamshire, near Aylesbury, England. The studio is open from 9.45 for a 10 am start to enable those who are traveling from some distance to attend. The studio is only a short taxi journey from both Aylesbury and Haddenham stations.
